Happy Passover to those who celebrate! It’s that time of year again.
Unity is Strength is continuing the tradition we started last year of Peace Passover – Peace Seders using our new version, updated this year, of the Peace Haggadah. Copies of the Peace Haggadah can be sent to you complimentary with a suggested donation of $30 + $20 shipping for each print copy, or $10 for each digital copy. Here is how to obtain them.
The Seder is a Jewish ritual meal for the holiday of Passover. Partly inspired by the ancient Greek symposium, it traditionally recounts the Israelites’ liberation from slavery in Egypt. Jesus’ Last Supper was likely a proto-Seder. Our Peace Seders are intended as interfaith rather than exclusively Jewish events, and to encourage dialogue centered on a roadmap toward peace.
There will be at least two Peace Seders this year, held over Zoom:
One is on Sunday, April 6 at 12:30 PM Pacific time / 3:30 PM US Eastern time / 10:30 PM Jerusalem time. You can register for the April 6 Seder here.
One is on Sunday, April 20 at 10 AM Pacific time / 1 PM US Eastern time / 8 PM Jerusalem time. You can register for the April 20 Seder here.
The Haggadah is the book of readings for the Seder. Haggadahs are commonly richly illustrated, high-quality printings. Ours uses work by Jewish and Palestinian artists, and is part of the long tradition of alternative social justice Haggadahs. These artists are part of a contributor team of over 20 Jews, Israelis, Palestinians, and adjacent, including T’ruah’s Rabbi Jill Jacobs, former Speaker of the Knesset and Interim President of Israel Avrum Burg, and Gazan peace activist Rami Aman.

With this Haggadah, we hope to use the Seder to encourage Jews and Arabs to explore one another’s cultures.
Looking forward to seeing you!
